Forensic Investigators’ Society of Nigeria (FISN) Signs Landmark Memorandum of Understanding with CONPEF, Italy

Lagos, Nigeria – 21/03/2026

The Forensic Investigators’ Society of Nigeria (FISN) is pleased to announce the successful signing of a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Coordinamento Nazionale Periti ed Esperti Forensi (CONPEF), Italy. This strategic collaboration marks a significant milestone in the advancement of forensic science, professional capacity building, and international cooperation in forensic investigations.

The MoU establishes a framework for mutual collaboration between both organizations in key areas including training and capacity development, research and knowledge exchange, professional certification, and the promotion of best practices in forensic science and criminal investigation.

Speaking on the development, the Chairman, Governing Council of FISN described the partnership as “a timely and strategic alliance that will strengthen forensic practice in Nigeria through international exposure, technical support, and shared expertise.” He further emphasized that the collaboration would enhance the competence of forensic practitioners in Nigeria and contribute to the effective administration of justice.

Similarly, representatives of CONPEF expressed their commitment to fostering professional cooperation and supporting the development of forensic science in Nigeria and across Africa. They noted that the partnership reflects a shared vision of promoting excellence, standardization, and innovation in forensic investigations globally.

Under the terms of the MoU, both organizations will engage in joint training programmes, workshops, seminars, and conferences, as well as facilitate exchange programmes for forensic experts and consultants. The collaboration will also support the development of forensic standards and protocols aligned with international best practices.

This partnership underscores the growing importance of international collaboration in addressing complex criminal activities and strengthening the role of forensic science in modern justice systems.
